Review: Body America Toast to the Coast Ocean and Grapeseed Mist

I encountered this body mist while I was shopping at Rustan's this afternoon, looking for a birthday gift for my best friend. The packaging reminded me so much of her... the bottle has a 60s pinup girl on the label which is just so cute. I wasn't able to take a photo of the spray because I had it gift wrapped. The smell was surprisingly subdued which I find good because I dislike overpowering scents. It smells like grape without the sweetness. I was trying to decide between this one and the apple scented mist and this won me over because I thought that the apple was too sweet.

Thanksgiving for Today

Today I am thankful for a lot of things. Thankful for my excruciatingly long-awaited permit for the project I have been working on. It had been keeping me stressed for weeks so much so that I could hardly sleep at night and in the morning when I woke up, it would be the first thing I would worry about. It was a humbling experience, teaching me the value of time, and of treasuring the little things.

I am also thankful for the improving condition of Blue Eyes, my cat. I brought him back from the vet tonight and his fever has gone down, albeit he still has no appetite. He looks stronger and I try talking to him to try to coax him to eat. I keep him separate from my other cats right now, upon the vet's instruction. I realize that being a pet owner is a full-time responsibility. You can't expect them to be okay all the time. I wish that was the case though.

I am also thankful for the extra day of rest I get this weekend (it is a long weekend) so I will use tomorrow to care for kitty, do some laundry and get extra sleep. I think I do need a long weekend, after all. I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

Friday 26 October 2012

I was finally able to bring my blue-eyed kitty to the vet this afternoon. I tried getting her to go with me this morning but she didn't want to come along.

The vet said he had a really high fever (40 degrees) so it would be best to confine him there. He was given antibiotics and a shot to make the fever go down. He was also put on dextrose so that he could receive some nourishment. Everytime I tried to feed him catfood with vitamins, he didn't find the appetite for it and just tried to drink some water.

I hope he gets better.

Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar #04

Good afternoon, folks!

Last night, I decided to purchase a tinted lip gloss that has decidedly enough tint to look natural and at the same time give colour to my pale face. I decided to head over to Tony Moly because I've tried some of their products before which I liked.

This was the first one to catch my eye as I looked at the shelf of lippies. It's called Petite Bunny Gloss Bar and comes in a kawaii package ...very cute indeed! But if that isn't enough, it actually works well too! It has enough tint to give full coverage on my lips.

My lips are usually chapped too but this moisturizes pretty well. I would also say that it seems to have lasting power. Pretty good deal for an inexpensive price. This retails at approx. $5.95 here. Not bad!

My rating: 5/5 stars.
Pros: Good pigmented color, inexpensive, cute packaging, moisturizing, what more can you ask for! :)
Cons: Can't really think of any!

Sunday morning. The best time of the week.

Weekends are always the best days of the week.

Sunday mornings in particular.

Nothing beats the absence of traffic noise in the morning, so much so that you can actually hear yourself think and have time to enjoy the little things. I can enjoy listening to random everyday things (right now the whirring of the fan relaxes me as I type this). It is actually lulling me to sleep.

Breakfast is the meal of the day that I skip the most during weekdays but would love every minute of if I had the time to enjoy it. To truly relish my weekend, my boyfriend and I had breakfast at a nearby pastry place very reminiscent of a cozy bed and breakfast. I had some bacon and eggs and we had some biscuits with homemade strawberry jam and butter. The warm biscuits blended with the sweetness so very well in my mouth. I don't think I shall ever forget that sensation.

We dropped by a bookstore afterwards to look around. I love little adventures. Randomness is always welcome. :)

Lush Whip Stick review!

I went shopping yesterday to give myself a break.

Yes, sometimes I do need a break from the hectic everyday work life.

I had been itching to try something from Lush (not really the soaps just yet but I've heard tons of positive reviews about Honey I Washed the Kids). I was interested in their lip balm ever since I randomly walked into their store last week. I never knew they carried lip balms because all I could see on their shelves was soap...mounds of soap. All shapes and colors...some even looking as if they could crawl at you! Lol.

Anyway, I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just something that works well on my often-chapped lips. We have temperate weather here, nothing autumny (but would like to experience Autumn someday) but my lips are always dry so I carry Lip ice in my purse. I'm quite happy with Lip Ice but something about the texture of the lip balm I tried at Lush made me want to try it. I've been staying away from impulse buys in the makeup section because I have loads of lip sticks, glosses, nail polish, etc. that are expiring without even being used halfway. Plus, they are expensive!

Originally, I had wanted to get a lip tint (probably It Started with a Kiss because I like a reddish tint on my lips) but I found it too drying. It exacerbated the chapped look of my lips and the colour wouldn't adhere well. The sales assistant helped showed me some lip balms and I tried them each one... there was a honey one, a lemon-flavoured one (which I kind of liked) and a chocolate flavoured one. The last one caught my interest because it was a bit on the hard, semi-waxy texture but once applied on my lips, it surprisingly adhered to my very chapped lips quite well. It stay put and actually made my lips look supple (and kissable!)  My Lip Ice usually leaves a sheen (probably because of the petroleum jelly) but this one looks more natural. I was completely sold. So this is the story of my first Lush purchase called Whip Stick!

I'm on my second day using it and the little tin packaging is quite nifty. I enjoy pulling it out of my small purse and it's such a treat because it tastes like orange flavoured chocolate. The only thing I don't really like is that it leaves weird marks on my glass of water.

Okay, here's a picture:

I give Whip Stick 4/5 stars. Less one star because it's a tad expensive (approx. $10 here)

Sunday 7 October 2012

Forgive me if I haven't updated in a while. It's October...my birthday month (yay!)

I'm going to have lunch with my family today and I'm quite excited :) I haven't chosen where to dine yet but I expect to have some comfort food.
